“ The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital has been established by the Cape Region of the South African Red Cross Society as an enduring memorial to the sacrifice, suffering and service for our people in World War 11 1939-1945. It is hoped that future generations, in their thankfulness for the benefits of this hospital, may be mindful of those in whose memory it has been erected.”
The 8th of November sees us celebrating the Day of Remembrance, which will honour the World War II service-men and veterans who initiated the fundraising for the building of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in the early 1950’s. The two minutes of silence is in thanksgiving for those who survived and to remember the fallen.
If you are interested in attending this special day, join us at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital at 10:30am.
