Four bikes! Four people! Four months! For the children! This is the journey that Malcolm Taylor, his son Julian and daughter Shannon, and friend John Byett will undertake to Singapore to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Hospital Trust’s latest fundraising project to build a Paediatric Infectious Diseases Centre at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
The four bikers departed from the Red Cross Children’s Hospital on Friday, 30 December 2011 at 07h30, on a four month expedition of varying terrains on Kawasaki motorcycles. Both Malcolm and John have had personal experiences with the Hospital, where their children were treated at this world-renowned facility. Malcolm and John agree that this was one of the significant factors in choosing a worthy beneficiary. Malcolm’s wife, Sue, has been a volunteer at the Hospital for the many years and played a key role in deciding which project to support. Sue has spent plenty of her time in the Hospital’s General Medical Wards, which treats general medical patients and those with infectious diseases and chronic illnesses – the sickest and youngest patients in the Hospital.
