PATIENT STORIES

Meet Ayoob

Little 12-year-old Ayoob Keeran recently had his second heart operation after being diagnosed at birth with a heart condition.  He was born with a damaged aortic valve and doctors said that he needed a new one.  Ayoob is recovering from his operation in the E1 Cardiac Ward.

This brave little boy had his whole aortic valve and the actual artery replaced during what is called replacement surgery on 30 January 2015. The operation took a long seven hours, while his loving family waited to hear good news. And it was good news! Ayoob handled the operation so well that doctors said he would only need a week to recover before he could go home.

Ayoob had his very first heart operation when he was only six-years-old and has visited the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital many times over the last few years.  Hopefully this latest surgery will mean a break from hospital visits.

“He is slowly recovering.  He is eating and is more interactive with the family now,” his moms says.
