Brian’s Ironman for kids with Cancer

If you are not familiar with IRONMAN, the race requires participants to Swim 3.8k, Bike 180km and Run 42.2 and cover the complete distance of 226km within a 17 hour time limit. Brian Wilson will be taking up the challenge of the IRONMAN South Africa Triathlon to raise funds for the Oncology Unit at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa on the 22nd April 2012.

Brian asks everyone to make a donation of R 80.00 ($10.00) per name in honour of each person they know who has been or is being affected by Cancer. When you submit your donation, you submit the name(s) as well.  All of the names collected will be screen printed onto Brian’s race jersey and will be his inspiration on race day.   Once the race is over, the jersey will be cleaned and framed and presented to the Red Cross War Memorial Hospital to be hung in a prominent place within the Oncology Unit to honour donors’ friends and/or family members. Brian’s goal is to collect 1 000 names.

Brian is also taking challenge donations made by anyone wishing to push him to better his personal best IRONMAN time of 16 Hours, 10 Minutes and 2 Seconds which he established in 2009.
