In the year 2000, 30-year-old Greg Bertish picked up a rare tropical bacteria that attacked his heart valves.
Over the next seven years, Greg underwent two open heart surgeries, re-infections and spent nearly 200 days in hospital.
As a heart patient he has gone on to become SA Champ in Lifesaving & SUP, get National colors in Stand Up Paddle boarding and surf some of the biggest waves in the world.
He is the founder of the Sharkspotter Program, www.all-heart.org , the Paddle 4 Presents Event and the Little Optimist Project.
