The Children's Hospital Trust
Established in 1994, the Children’s Hospital Trust fundraises for the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital and paediatric healthcare in the Western Cape, South Africa. The Children's Hospital Trust funds identified priority capital, equipment, research and training projects.
100% of all money donated goes directly to the specified projects and programmes at the Hospital as well as projects beyond the Hospital’s doors.
The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital
The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital was built in 1956 and is the only stand alone, specialist children's hospital dedicated entirely to children in southern Africa.
The Hospital is a public tertiary and secondary level hospital in Cape Town, South Africa and is dedicated to delivering word-class paediatric treatment, care, research and specialist training. As a referral Hospital patients include very sick children who need highly complex interventions to recover.
The Hospital is managed by the Provincial Government of the Western Cape's (PGWC) Department of Health with an operational budget of R400million for the 2010/2011 Financial Year. The Children's Hospital Trust works in partnership with the Department of Health on specific projects to raise critical, complementary funding to ensure the Hospital remains a world-renowned centre of excellence in paediatric healthcare.

The Hospital manages 250 000 patient visits a year treating some of the most complex, life-threatening conditions. The Hospital treats children from all over South Africa, Africa and, in rare instances, overseas. 98% of the patients come from marginalised communities and more than one third are under a year old.
