Past Cancer Patient completes the gruelling ABSA Cape Epic

Past Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital patient Nick Hops, now 19yrs, completed the gruelling 8 day mountain bike race with his dad to raise money and awareness about childhood Cancer.
Nick was treated for an osteo sarcoma when he was 11 yrs. Now that he is 19 yrs old, he felt that he could start trying to give back to those who saved his life. Nick knew that the race is very high profile with much media associated and that there was no-one like him with his medical history who could even dream of riding it so he decided to make something of it.
He felt strongly that lots of people cycle for charities, but very few of them have a personal history with their charity like he does.
Nick and his dad completed the race and their elation was boosted by the fact that he has, to date, raised over R51 000!
Well done Nick, it has been great meeting you!
