Stories Told and Shared

People from all walks of life tell us that they are leaving a legacy to the Children’s Hospital Trust in their Will.

Some because they were patients at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital over the past 60 years, or were parents, grandparents or relatives of a patients, as well as nurses and doctors who have worked at the Hospital

What is clear is that everyone’s experience of the Red Cross Children’s Hospital is very special

I was proud to be able to make a difference in the lives of my little patients, and to contribute to the tradition of excellence for which the Hospital has been renowned over the past 60 years.  I decided to include the Children’s Hospital Trust in my Will when I retired, knowing that when the time comes, they will put my gift to good use to ensure that the Hospital continues as special place of healing for little ones.” Mrs Dorothy Schulman, Volunteer at Childsafe and former Nurse at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital

“The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital has so many family connections for me …. a sort of home from home, as it were.  I know how much it meant to my father who was one of the founders of the Hospital. To him any child saved was so important. I want this wonderful place to continue long after I have gone and intend leaving money in my Will to the Children’s Hospital Trust. I hope that many other people will consider doing the same thing” Mrs Clemmie Hannay-Robertson, Volunteer at FOCHA

“ I am 80 years old and have a daughter, granddaughter and three lovely great-grandchildren.  I am so grateful that they are all well which is why I am leaving the Children’s Hospital Trust a gift in my Will to continue their great work to assist the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. I love children and this is my way of saying thank you for all the wonderful work that you do”  Legacy supporter

“ I trained as a nurse in the 1960’s when we had to live in the nurses’ home. It was very strict, with long hours and very high standards.  Children are such courageous little patients and magnificent work continues to be done at the Hospital, which is why I want to remember the Children’s Hospital Trust in my Will.”   Barbara

We would love to hear your story about why the Red Cross Children’s Hospital has a special place in your heart.
