Almost 38 years ago Tony Lawrence’s daughter, Janine, had to undergo an emergency blood transfusion at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital. At the time Janine was merely 5 days old and her condition was considered to be very serious, because without the transfusion she stood very little chance of having a normal life and the possibility of an early death was also a very harsh reality for the family.
The doctors and nurses at the Hospital did a wonderful job and Janine quickly recovered and grew up to be a very healthy adult. Now, Tony Lawrence, a proud dad and stroke survivor himself, is raising awareness and funds for the current ICU campaign through taking on a 1600km endurance ride that he will aim to complete in 24 hours. This endurance ride will be the biggest challenge that Tony has taken on, especially since his daughter will be a pillion rider on the adventure too.
Tony and Janine’s ride will start on Saturday, 18 June and is sure to be a great adventure to follow.
Please support Tony as he raises funds to build a bigger and beeter ICU at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital: https://www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/riding4redcross
